Do you ever
wonder how you can show your children the word of God? Do you question the ability to do so because
you may not be that in tune yourself with knowing the ins and outs of the
Bible? Try to remember that children live
a simple life. What is taught to them
has to be in steps and in simplicity.
At times we
may find ourselves reading a portion of the Bible in the morning, afternoons,
or even a night, praying and also praising the Lord. Why can’t we teach our children these
abilities? Our children learn from what
they see and also from mimicking the adults/children around them. It’s important that our children grow with a
sense of reverence to the Lord and know when to pray, when to praise and when
to read the word of God.
Take these small
steps:
1) In the car praise the Lord with music
(it doesn’t have to be adult music, it can be child friendly Christian music)
2) Show your child how to pray (a way to
do this is before nap time/bedtime)
3) Help them learn the word by reading
it to them at night or in the mornings.
It’s a nice way to start off the morning and end the nights. You will also see that you too will learn the
word and will start reflecting on it more and more as you spend that quality
time with the Lord and your little one as well.
According to
the Meriam-Webster Dictionary, the word ‘reap’ means to
get something, such as a reward, as a result of something that you have
done. Allow your
child to grow with you and sow what has been reaped. “Do not be deceived: God cannot be
mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the
flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit
will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the
proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have
opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to
the family of believers”(Galatians 6:7-10).
